Before and after graffiti removal in Lancashire: roller shutter cleared of a large tag
Roller shutter cleared of a large tag

No Graffiti Ltd is a specialist graffiti removal and exterior cleaning contractor working across Lancashire. We remove tags, paint and posters from brick, sandstone, render, steel shutters and concrete, then pressure wash, de-gum and protect the surfaces around them. Call 0161 399 5247 or send photos through our contact page and we will reply the same day with a method and a quote.

We have been doing this since 2001 and have completed more than 10,000 projects. Lancashire is a straight run up the M6 and M61 from Greater Manchester, and the M65 takes us across to Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley. We are open seven days a week, CHAS accredited and fully insured, and every job comes with RAMS and COSHH paperwork.

Preston: Fishergate, the city centre and the docks

Preston city centre is where most Lancashire graffiti calls start. Fishergate, Friargate and the streets around the Flag Market carry heavy footfall by day and a busy night time trade, and the shutters, side doors, service alleys and bin stores behind them are regular targets for tags. A tagged shutter left for a week tends to attract more.

We clear shutters and shopfronts before trading hours where we can, take paint off powder-coated steel without stripping the finish, and lift stickers and paste-ups from glazing, signs and poles with our fly-posting and sticker removal service. Further out, we look after offices, retail units and residential blocks around the docks and Riversway, and the student areas near the University of Central Lancashire.

  • Car parks, stairwells and underpasses

Concrete, sandstone and red brick: matching the method to the surface

Lancashire's buildings are a mix of very different materials. Preston has a lot of post-war concrete, including the Grade II listed bus station, while Lancaster and many town halls, churches and banks across the county are built in sandstone. Concrete can usually take hot water and controlled pressure. Sandstone cannot: it is porous and soft, so high pressure opens the surface and leaves a pale scar.

On stone and older brick we use low pressure steam and hot water at around 150°C from DOFF and ThermaTech systems, with specialist removers and poultices where paint has been drawn in. We always test a small area first. For whole elevations, our stone and masonry cleaning and facade cleaning services remove the carbon staining and green growth that build up over the years.

Blackburn, Burnley and the East Lancashire mill towns

Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington and Burnley grew up around cotton mills, terraced streets and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and a lot of that red brick fabric is still in use as flats, workshops, business units and shops. Canal towpaths, railway bridges, gable ends and back streets are where tags tend to collect, along with the shutters on town centre parades.

Hard red engineering brick, such as Accrington brick, can take a firmer clean, but soft handmade brick and lime mortar on older mills need a gentler touch, or the face and joints wash out. We match the method to what we find, and we can coat the walls that keep getting hit so the next tag comes off quickly.

Graffiti on a Lancashire wall or shutter?

Send photos and the town or postcode. We reply the same day and offensive graffiti goes to the top of the list.

Chorley, Leyland and the M61 business parks

Chorley and Leyland combine busy market town centres with large business parks, distribution sites and industrial estates along the M6 and M61. Town centre work is mostly shutters, shopfronts, alleyways and street furniture. On the business parks it is more often tagged cladding, fencing, signage and yard walls, plus gum and grime around entrances.

We can clean the whole outside of a site on one visit: graffiti off the cladding, pressure washing for the paving and forecourt, and chewing gum removal at the entrance. Facilities teams with sites in Chorley, Leyland and Preston can put them all on one schedule.

Blackpool, Lancaster and the coast

On the coast, salt air, wind and damp make surfaces work harder. Metal shutters, railings and signage weather faster, render streaks and goes green, and paving near the seafront picks up sand, gum and grime. Graffiti on top of that weathering is harder to remove cleanly unless the method suits the surface.

In Blackpool, Fleetwood, Morecambe and Lancaster we clean shutters, frontages, shelters and street furniture, treat moss, algae and lichen on render and stone, and apply anti-graffiti coatings to the surfaces that are tagged repeatedly. In Lancaster's historic centre we take extra care with the sandstone and follow any conservation guidance.

Councils, housing and schools across Lancashire

We work for Lancashire's county, district and unitary councils, and for the housing associations that hold stock right across the county. Estate work tends to centre on stairwells, garage courts, bin stores, underpasses, boundary walls and play areas, and we work considerately on occupied sites. See how we work with councils and housing associations.

For schools and academy trusts we can work in the holidays or before the school day, and offensive graffiti is treated as a safeguarding priority. Our offensive graffiti removal service covers racist, sexual or threatening graffiti, which we move to the front of the queue. Our coverage page lists every area we work in, including nearby Wigan and Bolton.

More than graffiti in Lancashire

The same crews and equipment handle the rest of the outside of a building. In Lancashire that means facades, paving, steps, cladding, yards and play areas as well as walls and shutters, so one contractor can keep a whole site presentable.

Lancashire Graffiti Removal FAQs

Do you cover Lancashire?

Yes. We cover the whole of Lancashire, including Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Accrington, Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Ormskirk and Skelmersdale. We reach the county quickly on the M6, M61 and M65, and every enquiry gets a same day reply with a clear date for the work.

How quickly can you remove graffiti in Preston or Chorley?

We reply to every enquiry the same day and book the work in as soon as we can, grouping nearby sites to keep costs down. Offensive, racist or threatening graffiti is prioritised and moved to the front of the queue. Send a photo and the address and we will confirm when we can be there.

How much does graffiti removal cost in Lancashire?

There is a mobilisation, or call-out, fee of around £200 plus VAT, depending on where the site is, with the treatment priced on top. The treatment price depends on the surface, the amount of paint, access and whether a coating is added. Regular contract customers pay less. Photos are usually enough for a firm quote.

Can you remove graffiti from Accrington brick and old mill buildings?

Yes. Hard red engineering brick, like the Accrington brick used across East Lancashire, can take a firmer clean, while older soft brick and lime mortar in mill buildings need a gentle approach. We use low pressure steam at around 150°C, such as DOFF or ThermaTech, and specialist removers where paint has soaked in, and we test a small patch first.

Do you clean sandstone buildings in Lancaster and Preston?

Yes. Sandstone is porous and soft, so we avoid high pressure and abrasive blasting, which scar the face and make the next tag soak in deeper. We use low pressure steam and poultices, and on listed buildings or in conservation areas we recommend checking with the council's conservation team before work starts.

Do you work for Lancashire councils and housing associations?

We are set up for public sector work, with CHAS accreditation, full insurance, and RAMS and COSHH assessments ready to go. We are happy to quote for Lancashire County Council, the district and unitary councils, housing associations and their contractors, either for one-off jobs or a planned programme.

Can we put several Lancashire sites on one contract?

Yes. Many clients hold shops, offices, schools or estates in more than one Lancashire town, so we put them on one schedule with agreed visit frequencies, one point of contact and photo reports after each visit. Contract customers pay less per visit, and we can add anti-graffiti coatings to the walls that are hit most.

Do you also do pressure washing and chewing gum removal in Lancashire?

Yes. Alongside graffiti removal we pressure wash paving, forecourts and car parks, remove chewing gum from entrances and walkways, clear fly-posting and stickers, and treat moss and algae. We can usually combine these with a graffiti visit so one trip covers the whole frontage.
