No Graffiti Ltd is a specialist graffiti removal and exterior cleaning contractor working across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. We remove tags, paint and posters from stone, brick, steel shutters and concrete, then pressure wash, de-gum and protect the surfaces around them. Call 0161 399 5247 or send photos through our contact page and we will reply the same day with a method and a quote.
We have been doing this since 2001, with more than 10,000 projects behind us, and we have worked in Sheffield and South Yorkshire before. Our vans travel from Macclesfield in Cheshire on scheduled visits, and we are open seven days a week. We are CHAS accredited and fully insured, and every job comes with RAMS and COSHH paperwork.
Division Street, Fargate and the Sheffield city centre core
Sheffield city centre packs a lot of trading into a few hilly streets. Fargate, The Moor, Division Street and West Street carry heavy footfall by day and a busy bar trade at night, and the shutters, side doors and service alleys that go with that are prime targets for tags. A painted shutter left overnight on Division Street is often tagged again by the weekend.
We clear shutters and shopfronts before trading hours where we can, take paint off powder-coated steel without stripping the finish, and lift stickers from glazing and door frames. Out of hours working is available for frontages that cannot be closed during the day.
- Roller shutters and doors on Division Street, West Street and Fargate
- Side alleys and service yards behind The Moor
- Bin stores and loading bays that collect both tags and grime
- Signage, glazing and frames covered in stickers and paste-ups
Sandstone, brick and steel: cleaning Sheffield's heritage fabric
Much of central Sheffield is built in sandstone, which looks solid but is porous and easily scarred. Aggressive blasting or high pressure will open the surface, leave a pale patch and make the next tag soak in deeper. On stone we use low pressure steam and hot water at around 150°C from DOFF and ThermaTech systems, then specialist removers and poultices where paint has been drawn into the stone.
Kelham Island and Neepsend tell a different story: red brick works, old cutlery and steel buildings, and their conversions into flats, studios and bars. Old soft brick and lime mortar need gentle treatment, while newer engineering brick and metal cladding can take a firmer approach. We test a small area first and match the method to what we find. For full elevations our stone and masonry cleaning and facade cleaning services remove the carbon staining and green growth that build up over decades.
Commissioned murals versus tags in Kelham Island and Sharrow
Sheffield has a strong street art culture, and plenty of the painted walls around Kelham Island, Division Street and Sharrow are commissioned and valued by their owners. We never treat a mural as graffiti unless the owner asks us to. What we do remove is the unauthorised tagging that lands on top of or beside that work, along with the throw-ups on neighbouring walls that nobody agreed to.
Where a mural sits next to a clean wall, we can remove tags carefully up to the edge of the artwork, and coat the plain surfaces so future tags come off quickly. If you are not sure whether a piece was permitted, check with the building owner first, then send us photos and we will advise.
Tags on a Sheffield shopfront or wall?
Send photos and the street name. We reply the same day and offensive graffiti goes to the top of the list.
Ecclesall Road, Abbeydale Road and Sheffield's independent high streets
Away from the centre, a lot of Sheffield's trading happens on long suburban high streets: Ecclesall Road with its bars, cafes and shops, Abbeydale Road through Sharrow and Nether Edge with its independents, and the parades of Hillsborough, Crookes and Firth Park. These are mixed streets with flats above shops, so tags appear on shutters, upstairs doors, gable ends and the walls of side passages.
Small independents rarely need a big contract. More often it is one shutter that keeps getting hit, or a frontage that needs a proper clean before a reopening. We can group several shops on the same road into one visit, which keeps the mobilisation cost down for everyone, and we can advise on a simple coating for the shutter that is tagged most.
Council housing, Park Hill and estates across the city
Sheffield City Council is a major landlord in its own right, and housing associations hold stock right across the city, from Firth Park and Darnall to Hillsborough and Walkley. Estate work tends to centre on the same places: stairwells, garage courts, bin stores, underpasses, boundary walls and play areas. We work considerately on occupied sites and can run a fixed round or respond to call-offs.
Concrete estates need their own approach. Park Hill, the Grade II* listed deck access estate above the station, shows how much concrete and brick infill sits in the city's housing. We use controlled pressure and hot water on concrete, and gentler methods on painted or rendered panels. Our housing association page sets out how we report and evidence each visit.
University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and the student areas
With the University of Sheffield around Western Bank and Sheffield Hallam's city campus by the station, a large student population lives and goes out in Broomhall, Crookes, Walkley and along Ecclesall Road. Shared housing, takeaways and late night venues bring tags, stickers, fly-posting and gum in fairly equal measure.
We clean university and college estates outside term time or in quiet hours, and we look after letting agents and landlords with student houses across those districts. Removing stickers from lamp columns, signal boxes and bus shelters falls under our street furniture cleaning.
Supertram stops, the station and Sheffield's road corridors
South Yorkshire Supertram returned to public ownership under the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority in 2024, and its stops, retaining walls and bridges are typical graffiti sites, along with the walls around Sheffield station and Sheaf Square. Ring road subways, footbridges and the walls along the Parkway and Penistone Road all get tagged regularly.
Work near rail, tram or highway needs proper planning: permits, possession windows, traffic management and safe access. We provide the paperwork transport operators expect, and our subway and underpass cleaning covers the long tiled and concrete walkways that ring roads tend to leave behind.
Meadowhall, the Lower Don Valley and Attercliffe industrial sites
East Sheffield is where the city's steel industry grew, and the Lower Don Valley is still full of warehouses, trade counters, works and business parks, with Meadowhall and its retail parks at the far end. Long boundary walls, palisade fencing, cladding and roller doors facing quiet roads are easy targets.
We clean industrial estates and business parks to a programme, and our industrial pressure washing and forecourt and yard cleaning deal with oil, tyre marks and grime in service areas. On cladding we use products that will not dull the coating.
The full exterior cleaning offer for Sheffield sites
Graffiti is usually the most visible problem, but it rarely comes alone. A clean wall above a pavement covered in gum, or a car park streaked with green, still looks neglected. We cover the whole exterior so one contractor can keep a Sheffield site presentable:
- Graffiti removal from stone, brick, render, metal, glass and timber
- Commercial exterior cleaning for offices, shops and mixed use buildings
- Commercial pressure washing for paving, steps and entrances
- Chewing gum removal from pedestrian streets, entrances and precincts
- Fly-posting and sticker removal from shutters, columns and hoardings
- Car park cleaning for surface and multi-storey car parks
- Moss, algae and lichen treatment for paths, walls and roofs on shaded hillside sites
- Render and cladding cleaning for newer apartment and office blocks
- Bird fouling removal from ledges, canopies and walkways
- Retail and business park cleaning for units and shared areas
Sheffield's hills mean water runs fast and collects at the bottom of slopes. If you are booking pressure washing for a sloping car park or entrance, tell us where the drains are, so we can plan run-off and avoid washing dirty water onto a neighbouring frontage.
Anti-graffiti coatings and planned visits for repeat targets
Some Sheffield walls get hit every few weeks, often the same gable, shutter or retaining wall. Cleaning it again and again costs more than protecting it. Anti-graffiti coatings come in two types: sacrificial coatings that come off with the graffiti and are reapplied, and permanent coatings that stay in place so tags can be lifted repeatedly. On heritage stone we use breathable products so moisture can still escape.
A planned maintenance plan pairs those coatings with regular visits at an agreed frequency. That keeps the cost predictable and stops small problems turning into a full clean-down. The Sheffield BID has supported graffiti removal and coatings for city centre businesses in the past, so it is worth checking what help is currently available to you before you commit.
We also record each visit with photos, which gives property managers a clear record for landlords, insurers and the police when a wall is targeted again and again.
How we plan and run Sheffield visits
Sheffield is a scheduled destination for us rather than a local patch, and we are open about that. Our vans set out from Macclesfield, and we plan Sheffield work into visits that group nearby sites together, which keeps the mobilisation cost fair. Every enquiry is answered the same day, and offensive, racist or threatening graffiti is prioritised and moved to the front of the schedule.
Each visit follows the same pattern: we confirm the method and access, protect the area, test a small patch, clean, then send before and after photos. If you also hold sites in Leeds or Manchester, we can put them on the same programme. See our coverage page for every area we work in.
To help us quote quickly, send a wide photo showing the whole wall, a close up of the paint, the surface type if you know it, and any access issues such as a busy road, height or a locked yard. That is usually enough for us to give a fixed price and book a date.
What graffiti removal costs in Sheffield
Every job has a mobilisation, or call-out, fee of around £200 plus VAT, depending on where the site is, with the treatment priced on top. The treatment cost depends on the surface, how much graffiti there is, how long it has been there, access and whether a coating is worth adding. Regular contract customers pay less than one-off callers.
Photos and a postcode are usually enough for a firm figure. For multi-site work we will walk the sites and build a schedule. Our guide to graffiti removal costs explains the factors in more detail.
Book graffiti removal and exterior cleaning in Sheffield
One-off cleans, contracts and coatings for councils, housing providers and businesses. CHAS accredited, fully insured and open seven days a week.
Whether it is one tag on an Abbeydale Road shopfront or a recurring problem across an estate in the east end, the approach is the same: choose the right method for the surface, remove the graffiti cleanly, and put protection or a schedule in place so it stays off.

More than graffiti in Sheffield
The same crews and equipment handle the rest of the outside of a building. In Sheffield that means facades, paving, steps, cladding, yards and play areas as well as walls and shutters, so one contractor can keep a whole site presentable.

Sheffield Graffiti Removal FAQs
Do you cover Sheffield?
Yes. We work across Sheffield, including the city centre, Kelham Island, Division Street, Sharrow, Ecclesall Road, Hillsborough and the Lower Don Valley, and we have carried out work in Sheffield and South Yorkshire before. Our vans travel from Macclesfield in Cheshire on scheduled visits, and we answer every enquiry the same day.
How quickly can you remove graffiti in Sheffield?
We respond to every enquiry on the same day and book Sheffield work into scheduled visits, often grouping nearby sites to keep costs down. Offensive, racist or threatening graffiti is prioritised and moved to the front of the queue. Send a photo and the location and we will give you a clear date.
How much does graffiti removal cost in Sheffield?
There is a mobilisation fee of around £200 plus VAT, depending on where the site is, with the treatment priced on top according to surface, size, access and how old the paint is. Regular contract customers pay less. Photos are usually enough for us to give you a firm quote.
Can you clean graffiti off Sheffield sandstone without damaging it?
Yes. Sandstone is porous and soft, so we avoid aggressive blasting and high pressure. We normally use low pressure steam at around 150°C, such as DOFF or ThermaTech, and poultices or specialist removers where paint has soaked in. We test a small patch first so the stone keeps its face and colour.
Will you remove street art in Kelham Island or on Division Street?
We only remove what the owner asks us to remove. Commissioned murals are artwork and we can clean around them or protect them. Unauthorised tags, including tags sprayed over murals, are a different matter and we take those off. If you are unsure whether a piece is permitted, check with the building owner first.
Do you work with Sheffield City Council or the Sheffield BID?
We are set up for public sector and business district work, with CHAS accreditation, full insurance, RAMS and COSHH assessments ready to go. We are happy to quote for council departments, the BID, housing providers and their members.
Can we set up a graffiti removal contract for several Sheffield sites?
Yes. Many clients hold shops, offices or blocks across the city, so we put them on one schedule with agreed visit frequencies and a single point of contact. Contract customers pay less per visit, and we can add anti-graffiti coatings on the walls that are hit most often.
Do you also do pressure washing and chewing gum removal in Sheffield?
Yes. Alongside graffiti removal we pressure wash paving, forecourts and car parks, remove chewing gum from entrances and walkways, clear fly-posting and stickers, and treat moss and algae. We can usually combine these with a graffiti visit so one trip covers the whole frontage.
